Welcome Message

Prof. Dr. Ram Prasad Regmi
Chief Scientist

Namaste,

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the National Atmospheric Resource and Environmental Research Laboratory (NARERL), the first professor-developed and autonomous research laboratory at Tribhuvan University. Founded in 2008, the NARERL has grown from an ambitious vision into a dedicated platform for atmospheric and environmental education and research, anchored within the Central Department of Physics.

Our laboratory was established to address the urgent need for advanced research in atmospheric and environmental sciences, preparing our graduates for leadership and professional excellence. Over the years, NARERL has remained committed to innovation and resilience, focusing on sustainable development and environmental stewardship. Together with governmental authorities and international partners, we strive to address critical challenges, from pollution control and microclimate forecasting for agriculture to safe aviation practices over complex Himalayan terrains. Our work on suspicious pollutant monitoring, climate impact mitigation, and weather prediction aims to improve the quality of life and support sustainable practices across sectors.

Today, NARERL stands as a collaborative community of faculty, doctoral, and master’s students, working on advanced projects that address climate adaptability, sustainable agriculture, urban resilience, and more. Our new residential operational weather and climate research observatory, strategically located on the Balkhu hilltop, promises to be a cornerstone for atmospheric and environmental research in Nepal.

We look forward to welcoming new collaborators and visionary students who share our passion for exploring and preserving the rich and complex environment of Nepal and beyond.

Thank you!
